Each year on or around 29th April, women worldwide celebrate the Associated Country Women of the World's international network by joining together to Walk the World. ACWW World President Magdie de Kock is delighted that you are supporting her as she Walks the World to raise awareness of the role women play in global food systems.
I was hoping to have a celebration for my 75th birthday in August and would have suggested donations to ACWW Pennies for Friendship instead of presents for those who wanted to celebrate with me. However Covid-19 put paid to that so instead I am going to take part in ACWW Women Walk the World and do a 10 mile walk locally. Help me raise much needed funds for ACWW by supporting me in this walk. When I do it will be weather dependent but hopefully this month! Thank you.
The funds raised by this walk, and donated through this website page will go to ACWW's Pennies for Friendship fund, supporting the core running costs of the organisation, its work advocating for rural women, and promoting sustainability.
This year, ACWW and it's members have been affected by the Covid-19 Pandemic. Because member societies are rightly following WHO and government guidelines and not having meetings, we have seen a decrease in donations to the enabling fund of ACWW: Pennies for Friendship.
You will know that our projects donations (The Women Empowered Fund) are restricted to only funding projects and their direct associated costs, so all the other work of ACWW is reliant on Pennies for Friendship. This includes UN representation and participation, promotional and educational materials like the magazine and leaflets, research, Board members' outreach, board and committee meetings, and staffing.
While ACWW has financial security because of our reserves, we need our members to help ensure that ACWW is able to continue all of it's vital work, this year and beyond. So, as you plan your event, we will provide you with resources that explain how ACWW uses your donations to help rural women around the world.
