ACWW has consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF), and the UN Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM). The UN Commission on the Status of Women continues to grow in importance. Forty-five women went to the initial meeting. In 1975, in Mexico City 6,000 attended with 1,000 government delegates. In 1985, in Nairobi , there were 10,000, including women from Asia, Africa and the Middle East. ACWW World President, Lindsay Hacket-Pain was among 50,000 attending in 1995. The ACWW Triennial Conference Resolution 5 on obesity awareness was addressed by two speakers on the subject of diabetes. ACWW Board Meeting in London Each of the 16 Board members attending a training session presented a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities & threats) analysis of herself and her work. A presentation on the duties of a trustee gave us all more confidence in our duties as trustees of an English charity. Among issues that arose during the Board meeting: There will continue to be four issues of The Countrywoman a year. The revised theme for the 26th Triennial Conference is Women Worldwide: the Voice of Today. It will be held April 20-April 28, 2010, in Hot Springs Arkansas. Project funding was increased. ACWW income continues to be a concern. It is again expected to be less than expenditure in the current financial year. All are encouraged to support Pennies for Friendship and unrestricted donations. A reminder of the dues increase: Category I $189 Category II $116 Category III $95 Category IVa $63 Category IVb $42 for 1 year or $105 for 3 years ACWW's low profile was agreed to be a concern. Members are encouraged to publicise the organisation whenever possible. The Strategic Plan for 2008-2010 will be circulated and put on the web page as soon as possible. Our thanks to all for your cooperation and contributions towards hosting the 2010 Triennial. The committee is working diligently to make this a memorable occasion for all.
