SOUTHERN AFRICA NEWSLETTER November 2007
Extracts from ACWW Area President's report: ACWW Board meeting Unfortunately, I could not attend the Board meeting which was held at Central Office in London during October since I had broken my ankle shortly before the meeting date. Some important decisions were taken: Membership dues These were increased and it is time to send those for 2008 to London. They are payable on January 1 2008 (and must be paid before June 30 2008!). ACWW Central Office will send you an invoice before the end of this year. Conference theme The theme for this triennium and for the 26th Triennial Conference in 2010 at Hot Springs, Arkansas, USA, will be: ‘Women Worldwide: The Voice of Today’. Project funding Please submit applications (each society has a set of application forms which can be copied and completed) for project funding. (Member societies can now receive up to £10,000 towards projects.) Area Conference Our hostess society, Zambian Women in Agriculture (ZWA), has begun arrangements for the conference, which should take place during September 2008. I also plan to visit Zambia soon to see the venue and to plan the agenda, etc. Conference dates and detail regarding cost, etc. will be announced in my next circular early in 2008. Getting to know you In my previous circular I invited societies to send me news (and photos) of their activities. Only one society responded! Please send me news of your achievements, your projects, your plans for 2008, etc. Since my election I have visited the Malkerns WI in Swaziland, the Bafokeng Women’s Club and I have attended the annual congress of WAU Overvaal. I am now awaiting invitations from other societies in the Area. Please invite me to your events and activities and allow me 10-20 minutes to inform your members about ACWW. Who knows? I might be able to travel to you at the expense of my sponsor. Should you know of any societies that I could motivate to join ACWW, please forward their names and their contact details, so that I can arrange to meet their leaders. Festive season I wish all your members and their loved ones a blessed festive season. May 2008 hold many opportunities for your society to grow and to assist in the development of our women. Waiting for your membership dues, pennies for friendship, annual questionnaires and society news! Regards Dr Semane Molotlegi, Area President, Southern Africa Area November 2007 Back to top I Home |
