SOUTH PACIFIC AREA NEWSLETTER April 2008
Extracts from ACWW Area President's report: Since the last newsletter, there have been many natural disasters in our area, with flooding and torrential rain, particularly in Queensland and northern New South Wales. My thoughts are with you all and I hope things improve in the not too distant future. New member society We have recently had some wonderful news: the Alola Foundation has been accepted as a member society for the South Pacific Region This has been in the pipeline since the World Conference in Hobart and finally it has come to fruition. It could not have been achieved without the help of Jenny Mitchell and the !2-member Casey Dinner Branch which has paid the Alola Foundation's subscription for three years. Area Conference, Perth 2008 Planning is going well, with the organising committee working very hard to ensure al who attend have an enjoyable and stimulating time whilst in Western Australia. The theme: Challenges, Changes and Champions. So far 150 registrations have been received. Conference reports: !would ask that all member societies be prepared to present a report, in any form you may choose. If your society is unable to send a representative, please ensure that your report reaches me at my home address by email, fax or post no later than August 1. ACWW projects I have been asked by the Projects Committee two monitor two programmes, one in Papua New Guinea and the other in Tuvalu. I would like to combine this with some extension work and look forward to meeting members of societies in these areas. Kind regards, Ruth Shanks, South Pacific Area President April 2008 Back to top I Home |
